Buying Fine Jewelry- Yes, It Is Worth The Money

ARTICLE DATE 12/18/2016

The other day I went to put on one of my favorite shirts when I noticed it was beginning to look noticeably worn. It had finally reached its expiration date. If you’re anything like me, the expiration date is always a sad day, but for the fashionably conscious, we understand it is a must. When purchasing clothing, shoes, or even a designer handbag we go into it knowing there will come a time it must be let go. This is what makes buying fine jewelry so fun for me. It’s the comfort of knowing my money is being invested into something I will have forever.

Buying Fine Jewelry- It’s Worth The Money

When buying fine jewelry, we often see the price tag and question if it’s worth the substantial upfront costs. But the answer is yes- always yes- it’s definitely worth it. The right piece can transform and elevate your look to new levels that simply cannot be achieved by the likes of designer clothing or purses. To put frankly, there’s not much that a piece of fine jewelry CAN’T do. It can even make a statement out of jeans and a t-shirt. There’s nothing like the glow that gemstones and precious metals give you. It will be a conversation starter, and with all the compliments you’ll be receiving as a result of wearing it, it is an instant confidence booster!

Buying fine jewelry is rewarding because pieces can be worn many times without the re-wear fear. It can become your statement piece. You can also class up your look by pairing fine jewelry with fashion jewelry. Nowadays many women love accessorizing with fashion jewelry, myself included, but fashion jewelry is not a “forever” piece. Just like with other items in your wardrobe, they have an expiration date. Fashion, or costume jewelry, “expires” over time because it is more prone to wear and tear when compared to higher quality fine jewelry,  and also because they simply go out of style. Having a few fine jewelry pieces mixed in to your collection is an essential element for any successful  jewelry wardrobe.

At least one pair of fine earrings are required in your jewelry collection. So if you’re just starting your collection, or shopping for a gift, this is an easy place to start. Consider classic diamond studs or chandelier style earrings. The Cartier Lanieres drop earrings and Tiffany Elsa Peretti diamond huggies both are beautiful styles keeping the elegance of a timeless look. Bracelets are a great place to start as well. A simple bangle style is fashionable and looks beautiful on anyone’s wrist, plus you can never have too many. Tiffany Metro diamond bangle and the Cartier Love Bracelet are wonderful options. David Yurman, Chopard, and Bvlgari are other glamourous jewelry designers that are worth checking out. Buying Roberto Coin jewelry has also been a very popular trend as of late, and would make an excellent addition for those who like to be on the cutting edge of fashion. Let’s not forget that there are also many beautifully made fine jewelry pieces that are not attached to big designer brands. High quality, fine Italian jewelry can still be found outside of big recognizable name brands and still have a comparable style and elegance that is equally timeless and wonderful. And as if it couldn’t get any better,  you can often buy this fine jewelry for half or even one third the price of name brand jewelry and it will still carry the character, style, and elegance that designer jewelry would come with.

At the end of the day, you should buy what you love, but we also suggest you think about longevity and versatility so that you can get the most out of your investment. Your fine jewelry collection is worth growing so use the opportunity to show off your individuality as well as your financial savviness.
