Baselworld 2018: Breitling Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44
Breitling launched a host of new watches for Baselworld 2018 and one that caught our eye was a new Chronomat model. The Breitling Chronomat is, in fact, one of the brand’s most popular models, cherished for its design and technical abilities. Let’s explore what’s new with the Chronomat chronograph.
The Breitling Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44 Design
While the new stainless steel Breitling Chronomat B01 retains its 44mm case and familiar dial layout, there are some new design touches. For one, the case and bracelet are crafted from a brushed stainless steel instead of a high polished one. This particular finishing gives a more subdued look to the pilot’s chronograph than previous models.
Dial wise, the new Breitling Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44 comes with a choice of a blue or gray dial, dubbed Blackeye blue or Blackeye gray. The dials house contrasting black registers–three in total positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock–for the small seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour displays. Moreover, there’s the discreet date window in between 4 and 5 o’clock coupled with the luminescent-coated hands and indicators. Protecting the dial is a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on each side.
The ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel takes on a simpler style on the new 2018 Chronomat watch. Breitling left behind any engraved numerals and instead opted for unadorned rider tabs except for the single lume plot at the 12 o’clock position.
Finishing off the design, these two new sporty Breitling Chronomat watches are outfitted with the famous Pilot metal link bracelet with a folding clasp.
Breitling Caliber B01
Powering the Breitling Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44 is the in-house B01 automatic movement. Beating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, equipped with a dual-acting ball-bearing rotor, and providing 70 hours of power reserve, the Breitling B01 is a robust and dependable chronograph caliber that can keep up with even the most active lifestyles. Like all Breitling watches, the Caliber B01 automatic movement is COSC-certified.
What’s more, the watch is water resistant to 500 meters, so it really is a Breitling that can go anywhere at anytime.
Sporting a more grownup and slightly more serious style, the refreshed 2018 Chronomat is a welcomed addition to the Breitling collection. It continues the Chronomat’s fundamental design and functionality but flaunts a handful of great new design features, which makes it an ideal everyday luxury sports watch.
