The wildly successful Breitling Emergency, the first-ever watch with a dual-frequency locator beacon, had its latest version release stalled to U.S markets after it was announced at Baselworld 2013. On June 23, 2015 at a press conference aboard the U.S.S Intrepid Air and Space Museum, pilot, astronaut, and Breitling brand ambassador Mark Kelly announced that Breitling finally overcame the hurdles necessary to allow the new Breitling Emergency II to land into the American market.

Personal Locator Beacon

The Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is a unique feature to watches, and almost necessary for pilots and seamen. Operating on a frequency of 406 MHz (the same as the latest satellite-based ELTs), PLBs transmit distress signals to the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center on the Florida Panhandle through the international COSPAS-SARSAT satellite network

The original Breitling Emergency, was introduced in 1995, it was the first wristwatch with a built in emergency micro transmitter designed as a homing device for downed pilots.
