Eli Manning Joins Hublot
For a second season, Hublot stands as the Official Watch and Timekeeper of famed football team, the New York Giants. To mark this continuing partnership, the Swiss luxury watch Manufacture unveiled team captain Eli Manning as the newest friend of the brand.
During a celebration at Manhattan’s private Metropolitan Club, Managing Director of Hublot North America, Jean-François Sberro, and SVP & CMO of the New York Giants, Mike Stevens, took the opportunity to launch the Classic Fusion Chronograph New York — an exclusive timepiece inspired by Eli and the team.
Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph New York
No stranger to commemorative watches, Hublot often produces limited-edition timepieces to celebrate partnerships.
A watch that follows in the footsteps of last year’s Classic Fusion Aerofusion Limited New York Edition model, the Classic Fusion Chronograph New York continues to celebrate the New York Giants through its signature blue color. Sized at a large 45 mm in diameter, the Classic Fusion Chronograph New York carries elements of a classic chronograph aesthetic, with some modern updates. For instance, the round case style is updated with a satin-finished and polished titanium housing, a titanium with blue carbon fiber bezel, and blue composite resin lugs. Additionally, six “H” screws adorn the bezel, giving the watch a sturdy overall look. Adding to this timepiece’s robustness is a large, fluted, titanium crown at 3 o’clock positioned between two elongated push-buttons also in titanium. The blue and a glistening metal combination ensure this watch makes a statement on the wrist.
Continuing the New York Giants blue color scheme is the watch’s lacquered matte blue dial. Embellished with polished rhodium-plated hour indexes, which match the rhodium-plated hour and minute hands central to the watch face, this chronograph carries its monochromatic motif well. The only other pop of color on the dial is the extra-long chronograph sweep second hand tipped with a red lacquer for easy reading and following. Ensuring a symmetrical look, the dial’s 60-minute counter and 12-hour register can be found next to the 9 and 3 o’clock marks, respectively, while the date aperture is situated at 6 o’clock.
Special Edition, Limited to 22 Pieces
The Caliber Hublot HUB1143 powers the Classic Fusion Chronograph New York. A self-winding Chronograph movement, this inner mechanism is made up of 280 components and vibrates at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (or 4 Hz) to offer the wearer a power reserve of 42 hours. Protecting this intricate caliber is a satin-finished titanium caseback, which includes the engraved lettering “SPECIAL EDITION”. Additionally, as an exclusive watch limited to a run of just 22 units the caseback also contains the model number via a “XX/22” system.
Paired with a blue rubber and pebbled calfskin leather watchstrap with white stitching, it’s evident that this element was inspired by none other than the “pigskin” football itself. A stainless steel deployant buckle ensures the watch sits securely on its wearer’s arm and finishes off the watch’s impenetrable style.
Football & Fine Watches
Luxury watch brands have long courted superstar athletes as brand ambassadors and football seems to be the sport of choice these days. First, there was Tom Brady and Tag Heuer and now, Eli Manning joins Hublot. We wouldn’t be surprised if more star football players announce new luxury watch brand endorsements in the near future.
Hublot enthusiasts and fans of the New York Giants will be delighted to find that the Classic Fusion Chronograph New York comes encased in a commemorative box that coalesces the enduring spirit of both brands. Available at Hublot New York’s locations on Fifth Ave. and Madison Ave., we have no doubt this is a limited edition watch will sell out in no time.
