Exploring 2023 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watch Releases
Now that we’ve arrived at about the halfway point of the year, it’s a great time to look back and see what new watches have launched so far. Audemars Piguet, for instance, has released a bevy of new models this year, including plenty of fresh Royal Oak watches. With that in mind, let’s have a closer look at the 2023 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch releases and also check out some pre-owned alternatives to the latest models.
New Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra Thin
Ref. 26586TI.OO.1240TI.01
For 2023, Audemars Piguet released a new iteration of its Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra Thin, limited to only 200 pieces. Featuring a titanium 41mm case, smoky blue dial with black sub-dials, and Caliber 5133 inside, this ultra-thin perpetual calendar is stunning both in its aesthetics and mechanical capabilities. The dial is home to day, date, month, astronomical moon, leap year, and day/night indications, as well as the hours and minutes hands at the center.
Pre-owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Alternative
For a show-stopping Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, don’t miss the pre-owned Audemars Piguet ref. 25654BA, which features a full yellow gold case and bracelet, along with a matching champagne dial. This vintage Audemars Piguet watch was originally manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s, and remains a historically important perpetual calendar model in the brand’s archives.
New Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra Thin
Ref. 16202BC.OO.1240BC.02
Last year, on the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet unveiled a new generation of the Royal Oak “Jumbo” with a brand new movement. The design characteristics of the latest Jumbo Royal Oaks remained the same, which is to say 39mm cases, a pair of hour and minute hands on the dial (no seconds hand), and an integrated bracelet. While AP offered these new versions in several materials (steel, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum) this white gold Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra Thin only joined the lineup in 2023. The standout detail of this new version is its dial, which rather than featuring the signature “Tapisserie” hobnail pattern has a gorgeous blue-grained surface.
Pre-Owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Alternative
A solid alternative to the “Jumbo” Royal Oak watches are Royal Oak Selfwinding models, which also have time and date dials and automatic movements but also have a seconds hand (the Jumbo variants don’t) and slightly thicker cases. Another benefit of the RO Selfwinding line is that there are plenty of size variations to choose from rather than just the one 39mm case size.
For instance, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 41mm ref. 15400 is a classic choice, offering everything you’d want in a RO watch. Furthermore, for smaller wrists, there’s also the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 36mm ref. 14790. Both of these particular variants include stainless steel cases and bracelets, along with white “tapisserie” dials, which make them super versatile and perfectly suitable for daily wear.
Royal Oak Selfwinding 37mm
Ref. 15550BA.OO.1356BA.01
While not a new model per se, a new version of the Royal Oak Selfwinding 37mm has joined the catalog this year. It features a yellow gold case, yellow gold bracelet, and turquoise stone dial — an alluring combination that will surely have its fair share of fans. Everything else remains the same as other current 37mm automatic Royal Oaks, including the Caliber 5900 that powers the watch.
Pre-Owned Gold and Steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Alternative
For a more accessible alternative, consider a pre-owned two-tone Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 36mm. Marrying a classic combination of precious 18k yellow gold and robust stainless steel, this beautiful little number, fitted with a versatile white dial, offers a timeless design that’ll never go out of style. Regardless of all the trends that come and go in the watch space, two-tone timepieces have proven their enduring appeal and will continue to be mainstays.
Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph
Ref. 26715BC.ZZ.1356BC.02
Ref. 26715OR.ZZ.1356OR.02
Two recent releases join the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph collection in 2023, both furnished with a black onyx dial and a striking baguette-cut diamonds bezel. The dials also include baguette-cut diamond hour markers for some added sparkle. The cases measure 38mm and are offered in either 18k white gold or 18k rose gold, complete with matching gold integrated bracelets.
Pre-Owned Diamond Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Alternatives
When it comes to lavish diamond watches, Audemars Piguet has plenty to offer. Take, for instance, the pre-owned diamond Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 37mm with an exquisite diamond-set bezel and sleek black dial. The stainless steel case and integrated bracelet are quintessentially Royal Oak, while the addition of diamonds is a glamorous touch.
Otherwise, for a diamond chronograph, there’s also the dazzling pre-owned diamond Royal Oak Offshore 42mm in stainless steel with an incredible diamond pavé case and bezel. The opulent case and bezel are paired with a sporty black rubber bracelet, black dial, and black crown and pusher to fabulous effect.
