New Diver Le Locle from Ulysse Nardin
Always aligned with all things marine, the manufacture from Le Locle has launched a vintage-inspired Ulysse Nardin watch for 2017: the Diver Le Locle. Paying homage to a 1964 automatic model, this timepiece is a refined take on a tool watch. The perfect partner for recreational dives of all kinds — the Diver Le Locle is water resistant to 100 meters — its classic look offers style and practicality.
The Le Locle Diver in 2017
Featuring a 42.2 mm stainless steel case, the new Ulysse Nardin watch sports a robust casing with great readability. Despite its generous size, however, the Diver Le Locle doesn’t appear to be hefty when worn thanks to the extended lugs, which balance out the design and allow the watch to sit closely on the wrist. Additionally, with a matte black dial, thick hour and minute hands, large round indexes, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, telling the time underwater could not be easier. Plus, the Super Luminova painted onto the hands and indexes improves upon the watch’s legibility, which is vital at depth when a good light source isn’t always available.
As standard with professional dive watches, the Ulysse Nardin Diver Le Locle sports a unidirectional rotating bezel. But for added flair, its black and fluted design is made out of glossy-finished aluminum. Rounding off the case is a screw-down security crown for extra safety necessary when diving. The timepiece’s caseback continues the tribute to the original 1960s Ulysse Nardin watch by featuring an engraving of a scuba diver swimming in the depths of the sea.
Caliber UN-320
The Diver Le Locle houses the Manufacture’s in-house Caliber UN-320. The automatic movement includes a silicium escapement and hairspring. It runs at 4 Hz and offers a decent 48-hour power reserve. Providing a small seconds indicator at 6 o’clock, on top of the functionality of hours and minute hands, the watch face presents a different look to most dive watches we’re familiar with nowadays. The unique placement of the seconds indicator, however, harmonizes the dial’s overall design. For further practicality, the date window at 3 o’clock includes quick forward and backward date setting.
Completing the vintage look of the Ulysse Nardin watch is the exclusive black sailcloth strap with contrasting white stitching and buckle. The Diver Le Locle is the quintessential dive watch for the modern diver who has an affinity for retro style. Priced at just under $ 10,000, this is a fantastic offering from Ulysse Nardin. A classic looking timepiece with up-to-date technology, the Diver Le Locle is a solid luxury dive watch option.
