Process

It all starts with a visual inspection. This is where the years of experience really start to come into play. Our certified watchmakers assess the look, the feel, and the overall quality of each and every timepiece that comes through our doors. When it comes to Rolex, you can never be too careful and that’s why our process is so stringent. In most cases, fakes can be easily spotted and rejected. In our eyes, the worst fakes are the watches that are intentionally produced to deceive. Some of these even feature precious metals and higher end generic Swiss movements that mimic the look and feel of an authentic Rolex timepiece. This is where the process gets serious.

No caseback is left in place. No dial remains unexamined, serial number unchecked. Every lug, every bezel insert, every date wheel, every component is assessed for authenticity. Does the cyclops magnify the date correctly? Are the engravings off? Are the included papers married to the watch itself? These are all areas of consideration when authenticating these timepieces. There are no exceptions. Any watch that makes it to the floor is examined, tested, and authenticated. Only then does it earn the Gray & Sons seal of approval.
