The Best Watches Spotted at the Golden Globes 2020
Plenty of stars accented their formal wear with fantastic luxury watches from top brands like Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Bulgari, and others at the Golden Globes yesterday. The types of watches worn were diverse, ranging from pared-down dress watches to sparkling gem-set watches to sporty steel watches. Here are some of the best watches spotted at the Golden Globes 2020.
Rami Malek’s Cartier Tank Solo
Nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama for his role in Mr. Robot, Rami Malek sported a Cartier watch at this year’s Golden Globes. The actor has been wearing Cartier watches for a few years now and his choice for last night’s event was an elegantly understated one. Rami Malek opted for a classic large model Cartier Tank Solo watch in stainless steel with a black leather strap to match his black Saint Laurent suit.
Orlando Bloom’s Rolex GMT-Master II
As celebrity watch enthusiasts go, Orlando Bloom is a known collector of vintage Rolex watches with some coveted pieces like the Explorer II 1655, Submariner 5513, Milgauss 6543, and others. However, at the Amazon Studio’s after-party post Globes last night, the actor wore a brand new Rolex GMT-Master II in stainless steel complete with the iconic blue and red “Pepsi” bezel. As the latest iteration, Orlando Bloom’s GMT-Master II version comes fitted with a steel Jubilee bracelet and ceramic bezel.
Nick Jonas’ Bulgari Octo
Musician Nick Jonas is another well-documented celebrity with a penchant for luxury watches, often wearing high-end pieces like a yellow gold GMT-Master II, a limited edition Richard Mille 11-01, and a Chopard Grande Date Lunar One. But his pick to step out onto the Golden Globes red carpet last night was the most eye-catching of all. Nick Jonas was wearing the new Bulgari Octo L’Originale Blue watch set with 1,172 diamonds, for a total of 50.25 carats! His wife, actress Priyanka Chopra, also wore incredible Bulgari jewelry including a high-jewelry platinum necklace with over 56 carats in diamonds.
Daniel Craig’s Omega
Even off-screen, Daniel Craig carries his signature 007-style whenever he’s in the spotlight. And last night was no different as the James Bond actor and Omega watches ambassador attended the Golden Globes in a classic black tuxedo. But rather than opting for a Seamaster as Bond would, Daniel Craig wore an Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronometer. From case to bracelet, this Speedy is crafted entirely in 18k rose gold–a fine choice for the festivities!
Ellen DeGeneres’ Patek Philippe
Few people can compete with Ellen DeGeneres’ incredible watch collection, which is replete with both vintage and current Rolex and Patek Philippe timepieces. From Daytona “Paul Newman” to Nautilus to platinum Day-Date pieces and so much more in between, her collection is simply jaw-dropping. And last night, when Ellen DeGeneres received the Carol Burnett Award at the 77th Golden Globe Awards for her outstanding contribution to television, gleaming on her wrist was the Patek Philippe Reference 5271 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. Not only is the perpetual calendar chronograph one of Patek’s signature complications, but the ref. 5271 comes with diamonds on the bezel and lugs framing the black lacquered dial.
While these Rolex, Patek Philippe, Bulgari, and Cartier watches were some of the best watches spotted at the Golden Globes 2020, there are some other honorable mentions too. Stellan Skarsgard, who picked up an award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, Limited Series or TV movie for his role in HBO’s Chernobyl wore a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic Large Duoface Small Seconds in rose gold. SNL cast member, Colin Jost accompanied his fiancée and Golden Globes nominee Scarlett Johansson to the awards ceremony whilst wearing a Tag Heuer Monaco and nominee Nicole Kidman chose a vintage cocktail watch from Omega to match her glamorous red gown.
