The Best Watches Spotted At The Grammys 2020
The Grammy Awards took place last Sunday in Los Angeles, with 18-year-old artist Billie Eilish sweeping the big four awards (best album, best record, song of the year, and best new artist). In addition to the awards, we were also keen to find out what watches celebrities choose to wear to “music’s biggest night.” And we weren’t disappointed, from Rolex to Richard Mille and Piaget to Bulgari, there were plenty of topnotch timepieces on the red carpet to see. Following our look at the watches seen at the Globes, SAGs, and Critic’s Choice, we now present our picks for the best watches spotted at the Grammys 2020.
Trevor Noah’s Rolex GMT-Master II
Comedian, writer, actor, and host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah is clearly a luxury watch fan with plenty of Patek Philippe, Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Panerai watches in his collection. But for the 2020 Grammys, Trevor Noah stepped out with something extra special on his wrist. It was nonother than the relatively unknown Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 126755SARU, crafted in 18k Everose gold and embellished with a sapphire, diamond, and ruby-set “Pepsi” style bezel. Rolex has had a long history of making gem-set versions of their popular sports watches like the Daytona, Submariner, and GMT-Master, yet many of these are released quietly since quantities are very limited.
Nick Jonas’ Richard Mille RM 11-01
Nick Jonas’ watch choices for award season have been impressive, to say the least. Following his fully (factory) iced-out Bulgari Octo L’Originale Baguette for the Golden Globes, the musician opted for a Richard Mille watch at the Grammys where the Jonas Brothers band hit the Grammys stage for the first time in over a decade. His was the Richard Mille RM 11-01 Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Roberto Mancini” model, crafted in 18k red gold to complement his glittering suit.
Joe Jonas’ Bulgari Octo Finissimo
Nick is not the only Jonas sibling with a love for fine timepieces. His brother and bandmate Joe Jonas is also often seen with a luxury watch on his wrist, mainly Rolex and Audemars Piguet watches. For the Grammy Awards, however, he picked a Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton watch with an ultra-thin 18k sandblasted rose gold case housing a manufacture mechanical skeletonized hand-wound movement and fitted with a black alligator strap.
John Legend’s Rolex Daytona
Along with DJ Khaled and the late Nipsey Hussle, musician John Legend won the Grammy for the Best Rap/Sung Performance for the song “Higher.” For the festivities, he wore a watch we’ve spotted him wearing many times before — the lavish platinum Rolex Daytona ref. 116576 TBR with a baguette diamond-set bezel and diamond pavé dial. A great choice to go with his silvery gray suit.
DJ Khaled’s Rolex Sky-Dweller
Fellow winner, DJ Khaled, is a well-known fan of Rolex watches, often gifting them to his friends, music collaborators, and even his toddler son! So we weren’t surprised to see a gleaming gold Rolex watch on his wrist at the Grammys 2020. His selection for the evening was the yellow gold Rolex Sky-Dweller, which matches his Grammy award flawlessly!
James Blake’s Piaget Altiplano
English singer-songwriter James Blake was nominated for a Grammy in the best alternative music album category for his album Assume Form, which was presented ahead of Sunday night’s Grammys broadcast on CBS. He may have lost out on the award but we give him top marks for his Piaget watch choice for the night. James Blake wore an 18k white gold Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Automatic, which is one of the thinnest automatic watches in the world.
Conor McGregor’s Patek Philippe Nautilus
One week after Conor McGregor’s comeback fight in Las Vegas, where he KO’d Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, the champion fighter attended the Grammy Awards in LA. Fans of McGregor have no doubt noticed his massive luxury watch collection, which he loves to flaunt often online. For his red carpet appearance at the Grammys, Conor McGregor wore a two-tone Patek Philippe Nautilus to match his snazzy two-tone jacket.
It’s clear that there was plenty of gold and gem-set timepieces at the Grammys 2020 award show. After all, the watches had to keep up with the flamboyant outfits! We also noticed Ryan Secrest wearing the latest steel Rolex GMT-Master II with a Pepsi bezel whilst he was interviewing the bevy of celebs on the red carpet. Stay tuned for our next watch spotting segment, where we’ll be looking at what watches the biggest movie stars and top Hollywood figures choose to wear at the Oscars 2020.
