Character, Tradition, and Inspiration, but with a Touch of Innovation: The Rolex Submariner Date 116619LB
Since the emergence of Scuba-Diving, back in the late 1950’s, Rolex has been showcasing the most innovative timepieces that would accompany divers into the depths of their adventures. With unique resilience in design, ruggedness and durability, this model is a hallmark example of the majestic excellence that Rolex offers.
This version of the Submariner Date was released at Baselworld 2008 as a re-styled and enhanced adaptation to the classic Submariner Date that has captivated collectors and watch enthusiasts since 1953. At first, Submariners were the only watches capable of reaching a depth of 330 feet. Yes, Rolex was the first watch manufacturer to make a water resistant watch that can be submerged a football field down into the ocean. From that point the sport watch market has been forever changed. In that era it was of life-and-death importance to have a timepiece that could be coupled with the oxygen regulator by having a rotating one-hour lapse bezel. Just good ol’ mid-twentieth century timepiece manufacturing brilliance.
