A legend in the world of American football, the New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, has been a TAG Heuer brand ambassador since 2015. This year, to pay homage to the five-time Super Bowl winner and his team, TAG has unveiled a limited edition of the brand’s beloved Carrera Heuer 01, which Brady himself had a hand in designing. This is, in fact, the first co-designed Tom Brady timepiece. And it’s not surprising that TAG Heuer would offer a version of their signature Carrera chronograph for the job.

Showcasing the Patriots’ team colors, this watch comes in shades of blue, red, and silver. Encased in brushed steel and sized at 43mm in diameter, it’s a striking piece on the wrist. As a chronograph, it features a fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale in a black ceramic finish. A standard steel crown sits at 3 o’clock with a black rubber fitting, while the push buttons at 2 and 4 o’clock, respectively, boast red and black detailing.

This special edition Tom Brady TAG Heuer 01’s dial comes in a deep blue opaline, which is broken up by three rhodium plated registers at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. The hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock is encircled in silver and features a red polished hand for that added bit of detail, while the permanent second indicator at 9 o’clock displays subtle minute track in white. As the chronograph counter, the 12 o’clock sub-dial is the most characteristic with a specially stamped central “12” and a polished red hand.

Fans of Tom Brady will note that 12 is the quarterback’s jersey number, thus its embellishment on the dial, which doubles as the watch’s 12 o’clock hour marker. A 60-second/minute scale encircles the dial’s blue flange, while an aperture at 3 o’clock indicates the date next to TAG Heuer’s polished, applied logo.

Framing the date window is the iconic lettering, “CARRERA HEUER 01 CHRONOGRAPH AUTOMATIC.” Rhodium plated silvered indexes and hour and minute hands — all featuring white superluminova for increased legibility — plus a red polished central hand, round off the watch face’s overall design.

Powering the TAG Heuer 01 Special Edition Watch, and semi-visible via the caseback, is the Swiss made TAG Heuer Caliber Heuer 01. An automatic caliber, this movement offers rapid date correction and a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (or 4Hz). As a practical sports watch, this piece also offers its wearer a 50-hour power reserve, or a 40-hour reserve while the chronograph is in continual operation.

Guaranteeing a water resistance of 100 meters, the watch’s case is enclosed with a steel screw-down sapphire crystal caseback, which includes the lettering, “TOM BRADY SPECIAL EDITION BRADY 12.” Also highlighted on the caseback is a special engraving of Brady’s own signature and an indication of the model’s limited number.

Continuing the New England Patriots’ team colors, the TAG Heuer 01 is paired with a blue rubber and calfskin leather strap fitted with a double safety push-button steel-folding clasp. Limited to a run of just 466 pieces, the number was chosen to mark Brady’s shattering of several records when the Patriots triumphed over the Atlanta Falcons during the Super Bowl LI. During this historic game, Brady finished 43 of 62 passes to complete 466 yards overall, an unprecedented achievement. Retailing for $5,600, this is sure to be a must-have watch for Tom Brady devotees and Pats fanatics.
