Crown Replacement REPAIR & SERVICE
Dubey & Schaldenbrand Aerodyn Duo
Gray & Sons Jewelers, located in Miami Beach, Florida is an independent watch service center, repairing Dubey & Schaldenbrand Aerodyn Duo watches since 1980.
A Dubey and Schaldenbrand repair we recently received one that is interesting, but we never got a chance to sit back and appreciate it with all its features. Gray and Sons has repaired hundreds of Dubey and Schaldenbrands in our 38 years of being in business and we continue to receive them from customers in our showroom, in the mail from Chicago, Houston, Dallas and other cities in the USA and at our repair center in Miami Beach.
Let's take a dive at the Dubey and Schaldenbrand Aerodyn Duo. This model is only made in automatic and carries an ETA 2892 movement modified by Dubey and Schaldenbrand for complications on the Aerodyn Duo. In fact, the movement is modified specifically to fit the Aerodyn Duo's touneau-shaped case, and dial configuration with its interesting complications.
Before moving onto other details about this model, let's take a look at the dial. This dial is a real hitter. You have the subsidiary dial displaying the dual time zone at 12 o'clock. You then have, at 6'oclock, the date display. The dial features gold color Arabic hour markers. This dial also carries a sweep second hand, it is seen with a red arrow at the tip. Last but not least, you have an indicator at 9'oclock which comes to be the favorite detail from the public due to its humble appearance which can also tell whether it is AM or PM (even though it is not meant for this reason).
It is water resistant up to 30 meters and has a vibrant sapphire crystal. Dubey and Schaldenbrand does a beautiful job with their metal band, however this model does not come with one! Instead the Aerodyn Duo can only be bought with straps such as alligator, crocodile, leather and more. The dial comes in many different colors but black and silver are the most popular. Dubey and Schaldenbrand make this watch only in 18k (rose gold and yellow gold). You can also get it with diamonds on the case.
Gray and sons are currently repairing the Aerodyn Duo, and this is the exact one we have in the picture above. This watch's band is a classic black leather with a 18k tang Dubey and Schaldenbrand buckle.
Our Client brought us this Aerodyn Duo for service, and specifically for crown repair. At Gray and sons, we have been servicing all Dubey and Schaldenbrand's since 1980. We have 6 Swiss trained master watchmakers and jewelers with over 150 years of combined experience. Even with something as peculiar as a broken crown, we can diagnose and fix whatever issue your watch is having. Dubey and Schaldenbrand recommends a service on all watches every 3 years. Even if the watch is still running, it is always better to get the service once the oils age and become dry (this can be damaging to your watch). Our repairs begin with our master watchmaker completely disassembling the watch and inspecting all areas. With this specific watch we know from the beginning that the crown will need to be fixed. Our master watchmaker first inspects the crown and noticed the old stem was stuck inside the crown. The most common reason for this happening is when you try to use the crown while you are wearing the watch. ALWAYS take off the watch to use the crown over a flat surface. Next our master watchmaker will loosen the crown and get the old stem to come out. Once the old stem is out, we will replace it with a new original stem and attach to the crown. Next, we dissemble all other parts and make sure everything is functional. Simultaneously we will send the case to be polished and detailed. With all the parts disassembled, we clean all the parts and re-lubricate the gears using only the highest quality oils. Once everything is reassembled, we start a rigorous quality control process checking amplitude, beat rate, and water resistance. Specifically, with this watch we will test the crown to make sure it is winding correctly, its hands are moving accordingly, and functioning properly. Once the repair is complete, we will reach out and explain to the client what was completed and arrange a time for pick up or shipment. All our overhaul services for Dubey and Schaldenbrand watches will come with a 12-month warranty.
Gray and sons has fixed winding crowns for Dubey and Schaldenbrand, Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Patek Philippe, and Cartier. Our Swiss trained master watcher makers can disassemble your watch and determine what winding crown it needs. Gray and Sons is equipped with over a million dollars in original factory parts and swiss equivalents. Among those parts are crowns (as seen in the picture)! Whether it is the stem, tube or the crown, we can determine the condition and functionality of the crown to determine the issue directly so they can isolate the problem and repair it. With the crown being the central function in powering the watch, winding the watch, and controlling the day, date and or time, its proper use is key.
